Download and read online Live Bait in PDF and EPUB The story of a small Italian town where fishing, biking, and rock 'n' roll make the news, until tragedy turns everything upside down. Muglione. Nothing grows in this Tuscan backwater except the wild imagination of Fiorenzo, a nineteen-year-old metalhead. He lives for his garage band, horror movies, and fishing in the murky irrigation ditches outside of town. But when his path crosses with Mirko, the teenage cycling phenomenon, and Tiziana, the smart but frustrated head of the local youth center turned refuge for the town's hard-drinking seniors, his world will never be the same. From the brink of despair they fight their way back through honesty, resilience, and laughter, their fates interweaving in a story that is at once achingly funny, bitter, and full of poetic fervor. Told with the tenderness of a Fellini film, this contemporary novel continues the great tradition of Italian literature and cinema.

Download and read online Live Bait Fishing in PDF and EPUB Every kid who ever started fishing probably tried to catch a panfish with a worm. That setup has been the tried-and-true method for generations. There are other kinds of live bait that work just as well; maybe even better in some conditions and for certain fish. In addition to the chapter on Worms & Leeches, this book covers Baitfish, Insects, Salamanders & Frogs, Crustaceans and Other Natural Baits (such as salmon eggs and clams). Complete information on how to catch and keep these baits is followed by sections on how to actually use each live bait type. New on the freshwater-fishing scene in recent years is the use of dough baits and scents. Which one to choose, plus how and when to use each is fully explained. Equipment is discussed in detail: hooks, bobbers, sinkers, rods, and reels. The authors suggest many tips for using different kinds of equipment in various fishing locations and situations. The final chapter matches common freshwater fish species with the best kind of live bait to use, depending on where the fish are and what time of year it is.

Download and read online The Live Bait Squadron in PDF and EPUB On 22 September 1914 between 6.20am and 7.55am three British cruisers went down off the Dutch coast, HMS Aboukir, Hogue and Cressy. Of the combined crew of 2296 no less than 1459 men perished on their ships or in the sea. There were 837 survivors. The perpetrator was a simple German submarine, U-9. This event in the early days of the First World War came as a big boost to the Germans. But for the British it was a dire blow, the biggest loss ever inflicted on the Royal Navy, hitherto deemed invincible. The suffering was the more grievous now that among the fatalities were thirteen young boys, aged 15 and 16, while most of the other victims were reservists, mainly young family fathers from a few villages in the Chatham area. After some years of research the author has written a uniquely accessible reconstruction of this tragedy. Successively he pictures the build-up to this calamity, the crew's trials and tribulations, as well as the consequences of the incident from both a British and a German point of view. The hard times of the crewmembers had to go through are reflected in the personal accounts of some of the survivors of the catastrophe. Two Dutch merchant vessels had rescued a number of them and the men were then received and looked after in Holland. That too is part of this pitiful tragedy, which, though almost forgotten, was one of the largest calamities ever in the history of naval warfare.
